New Regional Innovation Center Opens in Eldridge

In education news, a major collaboration in Eastern Iowa is helping prepare the next generation for careers—and college—right out of high school.
Eastern Iowa Community Colleges have partnered with nearby school districts to launch the Regional Innovation Center in Eldridge —an 84,000 square-foot facility focused on hands-on learning and career training. The center offers 14 specialized courses integrated directly into students’ school days.
Programs include animal care and handling, greenhouse and floral production, biology, human anatomy & physiology, building trades, intro to early childhood, emergency medical tech, building trades 2, intro to renewable resources, lancer bakery, food of animal origin, food production development, nurse aide training, and veterinarian assistant 1. Students interested in higher education can also get a head start—earning college credits while still in high school.
As part of the partnership, EICC will provide instructors and college-level courses, helping students smoothly transition from high school to college or directly into the workforce.
The center has been in discussion for nearly a decade, but momentum from the North Scott Community School District finally pushed the project across the finish line. The district funded about two-thirds of the cost through its Vision 2025 bond initiative, which focuses on enhancing learning environments and investing in Iowa’s future workforce.
From classrooms to careers—and college—students in Eastern Iowa now have more tools than ever to shape their futures.
