Maquoketa Residents are Being Reminded to Keep Their Lawns in Check

As the spring growing season ramps up, Maquoketa residents are being reminded to keep their lawns in check.

At Monday night’s city council meeting, City Manager Josh Boldt said grass and weeds must be kept under eight inches in height. Starting soon, police will begin issuing notices to properties that don’t meet the standard.

If no contact is made they will then put up a hanger. On Sunday if the property isn’t mowed the property is then reported to City Hall. From there, the city will arrange for the lawn to be mowed and the homeowner will be charged for the cost on their utility bill.
