2 Davenport Men Facing Charges After Stealing Copper Wire

Two Davenport men are facing charges after police say they were caught with stolen copper and drugs earlier this week.
Davenport Police arrested 32-year-old Thomas Foley and 43-year-old Robert Hylton III on Sunday morning near West River Drive and South Sturdevant Street. Officers say the two matched the description of suspects involved in earlier copper thefts.
Foley reportedly admitted to carrying a realistic-looking BB gun and a small amount of marijuana. Police say a search also turned up methamphetamine on both men, along with burglary tools and scrap copper wire in their bicycle carts.
Investigators later linked the pair to an April 23rd theft at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Hillandale Road. According to police, the two stole about $300 worth of copper from parking lot light poles, causing an additional $850 in property damage. Surveillance footage captured part of the incident.
Foley is charged with burglary tools possession, two drug offenses, criminal mischief, and theft. He’s been released on a $6,300 bond. Hylton faces similar charges and was released on a $5,300 bond. He’s due in court for a preliminary hearing on May 23rd.
