Cal-Wheat Approves 2025-2026 Calendar

The Calamus Wheatland School District has approved the 2025-2026 School Year calendar. Some changes for the 2025-2026 school year include moving Wednesday early outs to Fridays. Students will be released at 1:15 PM. According to the school district the moving of the early out days to Friday brings several benefits such as Consistent Learning Time. Fridays often have lower attendance and early student departures for activities. Moving early dismissals to Friday helps maximize focused learning during the rest of the week. It also brings  Improved Logistics.  Friday early dismissals better support transportation needs, especially for evening events. They also say that it creates a stronger alignment. This change supports students enrolling in EICC academies, taking EICC courses, and engaging with other educational partners. This will also help with professional development. Teachers gain more consistent instruction time and dedicated time at the end of the week for planning and professional growth.

This change will also change the way Cal-Wheat Preschool is operated. The Preschool students will go to school only 4 days a week instead of 5. They will be in school Mondays – Thursdays. This new structure according to the school district will provide a predictable Routine. Young learners benefit from a steady weekly schedule, helping them adjust smoothly when they transition to a full five-day school week. Also it gives them Time to Recharge.  A three-day weekend gives preschoolers the rest they need to return each Monday ready for active, meaningful learning.
