Easton Valley Elementary School Holding Active Threat Drill

According to a Facebook post put out by the Easton Valley School District, The Easton Valley Elementary School will be having an Active Threat Drill that will be held tomorrow. The school district says that it has completed 2 of 3 steps that are laid out in their student safety teaching progression. The first step was a soft lockdown drill that was completed at the beginning of the year. The Soft Lockdown drill was where the exterior doors were locked and school continued as normal. Then step 2 Hard lockdown drill was completed in the middle of the school year. All of the students were shown a Run, Hide, and Fight video with their teachers. All classrooms then simulated a hiding event. Tomorrow they will complete the 3rd step of an Active Threat Drill. The Easton Valley School District says there will be NO active threat present and there will be no weapons of any sort present. It’s simply a drill for teaching purposes. Today the students review the Run, Hide, Fight video, and students have an opportunity to ask any questions they may have. Then tomorrow at an unannounced time the Secretary will use the intercom from the safe room and will describe a hypothetical situation to the school and students and staff have to make a decision to run, fight, or hide. Those who choose to run are instructed to get out of the building and remain in the parking lot and not actually run. The Easton Valley School District School Resource Officer Mr. Groover will be at the school for the drill. If you have any questions about this drill you can contact Easton Valley Elementary School and ask to speak to Principal  Mr. Austin Daniels.
