Threat Made to Briggs School

According to a post on the Maquoketa Community Schools website there was a report of a potential threat made to Briggs Elementary School. Maquoketa Schools Superintendent Tara Notz said they were aware of a statement that was recently shared on social media about a potential threat to Briggs Elementary. After a thorough investigation by the School Resource Officer and Maquoketa CSD administration, they have determined there is no viable threat to our students or staff. Because the investigation quickly confirmed that there was no credible threat, they were able to safely continue their regular learning activities throughout the day. Students and staff remained in the building and dismissal occurred as normal using our routine process. The safety and well-being of their students, staff, and families remain the top priority. KMAQ has reached out to Superintendent Notz for further comment on this situation. Superintendent Notz said that it was a general threat made to Briggs its self. The School operated as normal.
