Fire Breaks Out in Downtown Miles

At 3:04 PM on Monday a fire broke out at The Vault Bar in Miles. The owner called Miles Fire Chief Paul and Paul called the law center to page out local fire. When Preston and Miles arrived on scene they tried to make initial contact to knock down the building but were unable to. They then further called in other departments to help respond. They include: Maquoketa Fire, Sabula Fire, Bellevue Fire, Andover Fire, Goose Lake Fire, and Charlotte Fire. There was a high usage of water and also a high usage of man power. With the help of the Maquoketa Ariel Truck they were able to help knock down the fire through the roof. They also had to call the insurance company in order to knock down the building. With help from Kunde Excavating they were able to knock down the building which helped the fire crews put out the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation with the Iowa Fire Marshall. They are also still working with the insurance company to get the fire cleaned up.

Miles Fire Chief Paul extended  his thanks to all 8 fire departments and all the personnel who responded and helped Miles. Without their help the fire could have spread to other buildings.
