Trial Date Set for Dubuque Man

A trial date is set for the man arrested for attempting to enter a Dubuque City Council meeting while carrying a loaded handgun earlier this month. Austin Goodman, 41, will go to trial on Nov. 18. Dubuque police arrested Goodman when he tried to enter the City Council Chambers at the historic federal building to protest his previous interactions with the police department and other government agencies. Police were already familiar with Goodman, and were already investigating him for violating a no contact order. Arresting officers found a loaded handgun in Goodman’s possession. He is charged with multiple crimes. Law enforcement said he resisted arrest and assaulted an officer during the incident. He remains in the Dubuque County Jail.
