Attempted ATM Robbery at Wyoming Bank
We know more information on the ATM incident in Wyoming. On Wednesday at 5:11 AM the Jones County Sheriff’s office received a call from the alarm company for the Citizens State Bank in Wyoming. When deputies arrived at 5:13 AM they found a F350 Super Duty truck attached to a chain to the drive through ATM abandoned on the bank property. Through an ongoing investigation they determined that the F350 Super Duty Truck was stolen from within the city of Wyoming. That happened before the bank incident. The truck and chain were then used in an attempt to gain access to the money in the ATM. It was during that process that the ATM became dislodged from its mount and came to rest in the grass on the bank’s property. The ATM had serious damage during this incident. It is unclear if money has been stolen or not. At this time the owner of the truck that was used in this ATM incident is working with authorities and is not suspected of any involvement in this incident. No arrest has been made and this is still a very active investigation. The Jones County Sheriff’s office is working with state, and federal partners. They are aware of other crimes that are similar to this and are working to see if it is a part of a state or nationwide network. The Jones County Office thanks the public for their information so far, and asks if anyone has any more information, or video in regards to this incident to contact the Jones County Sheriff’s office at 319-462-4371 and press option 2.
