Clinton Man Arrested after Storage Unit Fire

A 44-year-old Clinton man has been sentenced to prison after he pleaded guilty in connection with a storage-unit fire, according to Clinton County Court records. Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 14, 2024, Clinton Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to North Bridge Mini Storage, 2021 McKinley St., for a structure fire, arrest affidavits say. The first-arriving officer advised that a storage unit was engulfed in flames. Security video obtained from North Bridge Mini Storage shows a man wearing a gray tank top and white tennis shoes, carrying a black backpack and riding a two-tone bicycle. The man, later identified as Bobbi Jo Prellwitz, is seen going into the empty storage shed about 2:19 p.m. Aug. 14, 2024, according to the security video time stamp. Prellwitz earlier pleaded guilty to second-degree arson. Documents filed electronically on March 12 in Clinton County Court show he was sentenced to serve no more than 10 years in prison. The court made no recommendation on when he will be released on parole, “leaving that decision to the discretion of the Iowa Department of Corrections and/or the Board of Parole,” according to the sentencing order.
