Gardner of Maquoketa Sentenced to Prison

Devin Gardener of Maquoketa was sentenced 32 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing a car and acting as an accessory in Michael McCune’s death. McCune was shot to death at a northwest apartment complex in Cedar Rapids in 2023. Gardner avoided a murder charge by cooperating with law enforcement. Gardner is also facing charges for other crimes he committed during his pre-trial release. Those include burglary, criminal mischief, and assault with bodily injury.
