Dubuque Woman takes Plea Deal in Regards of her Daughter’s Death

A Dubuque Woman Has Taken A Plea Deal In A Case Regarding Her Two-Month-Old Daughter’s Death.  On June 10th, 2023, First Responders Arrived At An Apartment In The 3200 Block Of Getty Terrace Following A Report Of A Child That Was Not Breathing And Was Cold To The Touch.  Responders Attempted To Resuscitate The Child And Transported It To A Nearby Hospital. There, The Child Was Pronounced Deceased.  Valessa Matlock Was Identified As The Mother Of The Child And A Resident At The Apartment Building The Child Was Found In.  Matlock Has Pleaded Guilty To Neglect Or Abandonment Of A Dependent Person.  The State Is Recommending A 10-Year Prison Sentence.
