Davenport firefighters put out a fire at the Aleris recycling plant on Monday morning at 10am. According to fire officials, crews were called to the plant on 2101 J M Morris Blvd. Upon arrival, crews found smoke and flames rising from the plant’s baghouse; which is an industrial device used to help control air pollution. Officials said the blaze was under control within two hours, and firefighters remained on the scene for an additional three hours.
The main building wasn’t damaged, but Davenport fire officials said the baghouse took major damage across all three stories of the structure.
No employees or firefighters were injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
