Bettendorf High School cheerleaders season ended

– After all their coaches resigned, Bettendorf High School cheerleaders were told their season had ended.

Social media has been roiling with questions about why the coaches quit, with many allegations of misused funds.

A spokesperson for Bettendorf schools said the season was cut short because of the resignations, and the district has “no concerns regarding the misuse of funds.”

The resignations of the head and assistant coaches were approved at the Jan. 29 school board meeting.

They were effective Feb. 1.

The administration informed cheerleaders and parents on Feb. 3 that their season was ending,” according to a statement from the school. And students were “asked, not demanded, to turn in their uniform as a normal end-of-season protocol.”

The administration held a meeting later that week, the statement said, to discuss how the athletes would like to handle senior night and an end-of-season banquet.
