Muscatine Fire

A fire that broke out in an apartment complex Sunday afternoon is being deemed “suspicious” by city and state fire marshals.
Around 3:15 p.m., crews arrived at a structure fire in Building E of the Cedar Hills Apartments at 2002 Logan St.
When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming out of two side entrances of the building while occupants were evacuating.
Crews were able to contain the fire and assist two women in safely leaving the building. The two women were treated for smoke inhalation and released.
All apartments were ventilated and cleared of smoke, and no residents were displaced because of the fire.
Firefighters said that except for the fire area, smoke conditions were light throughout the building.
The Muscatine Fire Marshal and State Fire Marshal were contacted as the fire was deemed suspicious.
The fire remains under investigation by the Muscatine Police Department and Muscatine Fire Department.
