Kevin L. Mains arrested

Kevin Lee Mains, 68, of 1405 Jefferson St., Redfield, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. The deputies made contact with the male victim, who was “suffering from multiple injuries,” according to the sheriff’s statement. The victim told the deputies that he was “struck several times with a wooden object” allegedly by Mains.
Mains was not located in the vicinity of the assault, and an investigation led law enforcement to believe Mains “fled across the state and was potentially staying with a relative,” according to the statement.
Mains was apprehended about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday by Scott County Deputy Sheriffs at a residence in Princeton, Iowa.
A search of Mains’ person disclosed “18.7 grams total package weight (TPW) of a crystal-like substance” according to court records. The substance field tested positive for meth.
Mains is held in the Scott County Jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 7 in Scott County District Court. He has active arrest warrants in Dallas County for willful injury and first-degree burglary.
