Clinton Firefighters

Firefighters in Clinton found themselves putting out a fire in an unusual place – the top of a locomotive.
According to a news release from the City of Clinton, the fire department responded to a report of a locomotive on fire at the ADM plant, 1800 S. Fifth Street, near the CoGen facility on Wednesday, January 15 at about 10:15 p.m.
The first unit on the scene reported a small fire on top of a switch locomotive, which was on the tracks entering the coal dump area. The first engine company put out the fire in about 15 minutes and stayed on the scene for an hour. No injuries were reported at the scene and ADM employees said there was no damage to the locomotive.
The cause of the fire was determined to be a buildup of grease and oil on top of the engine in the locomotive.
