Clinton house fire

Three animals were rescued from a structure fire in Clinton yesterday morning.
A news release from the City of Clinton says the Clinton Fire Department (CFD) was called to a report of a structure fire in the 1700 block of Springdale Drive after receiving a call about smoke and flames and reports of a person still inside on Sunday, January 12 at about 9:45 a.m. Thirteen CFD personnel arrived on the scene with two ladder trucks, one engine, three ambulances and a command vehicle.
When they arrived, firefighters found light smoke filling the structure and flames were visible at the rear of the home. Three people inside the building evacuated safely after discovering the fire, but one person was injured reentering the home to extinguish the fire. The person was taken to MercyOne for treatment.
CFD brought the fire under control within 15 minutes of arrival and firefighters rescued two cats and a dog during the incident. The Red Cross is assisting the homeowners. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
