Maquoketa basketball player, Cora Widel

Maquoketa basketball star Cora Widel was voted TV6 Spotlight Athlete of the Week. The junior leads the undefeated Cardinals in points and assists.

“I think her actions speak for herself. One of the hardest workers you know she’s very disciplined and determined. She comes everyday with just a great attitude and it’s not always her vocal aspect of it it’s her actions and so forth and so some of that leadership qualities come through based on her action. She’ll be the first one to tell you if she hasn’t told you already it’s great to be surrounded by a great team and her teammates are phenomenal. When you have that support and that foundation there it can elevate anybody” said head coach Chad Specht.

“I think just the big part is my teammates I mean we all have our roles and each of us play our role it allows each of us to succeed in our own way. It’s been a lot of fun so far just a little stressful at times because we’re still undefeated and we want to keep it that way but it’s been a lot of fun” said Cora.
