New Laws go into effects

 As the calendar turns over to the new year, several new laws will be put in place here in Iowa.

Iowans will see a lower income tax rate starting Wednesday.

This is a new 3.8 percent flat tax rate for all taxpayers.

This puts Iowa at the sixth-lowest income tax rate in the country.

Also starting Wednesday, Iowa drivers will see a $10 increase for certain vehicle registrations and title applications.

Other laws have to do with Iowans consumer data protection.

The new law states consumers have rights to their personal data.
