Clinton County Ordinance

Clinton County Supervisors have not made any progress on the county’s wind turbine ordinance.

Jim Irwin–Clinton County Supervisor, said, “ In my opinion, we just were not making progress on the ordinances at all.  Overall we have had very good meetings, both sides.  Those that oppose and those that are for have been very open and had great discussions, great conversations.”

Instead, the  county will  be accepting opinions through the Planning and Zoning Ordinances, before bringing it back for public comments.

Jim said, “ One of the things that Thomas and I have talked about multiple times, and I have talked with my county attorney, Mike Wolf, is how we make it reasonable, within reason, of what can one person or one developer do on somebody’s property that affects the neighbor’s property.  That’s really tough to weigh in.”  Jim would like to reach a middle ground from both sides.   He said,

“Wherever we end up at the end of the day, likely no one will be satisfied with what our revisions turn out to be, but that’s just the decisions that we have to make, to have the best outcomes for Clinton County.”

The meeting on December 4th, 2024 will be on the ordinance.  Residents opinions need to be submitted by January 22nd, 2025, so the county can hold a public hearing in late March or early April.
