Mediacom was told to vacate in Clinton

Mediacom in Clinton is looking for a new location, due to their current location being deemed not safe, and were told by city officials to vacate the building located at 112 north second street.  Rich Johannsen, city of Clinton building official, and Jeff Chapman, city of Clinton fire marshal, evaluated and inspected the building and found visible signs of structural deterioration, including large cracks, bowing floors, and cracks in the brick walls.  Mediacom received guidance from a structural engineer and contractors, which led Mediacom to an evaluation from city officials to see if the building was safe for staff and customers.  The city determined the safest thing to do was to evacuate the building.  The building was secured and a notice was posted to inform their customers about the office closure.  Jeff Chapman, Clinton fire department assistant chief and fire marshal, said, “our walk through of the property, coupled with findings from the structural engineers led us to issue an immediate vacate order to ensure everyone’s safety.  Mediacom has worked in cooperation with city officials and met all requests.”  Beau Hicks, Mediacom senior director of area operations said, “our Clinton team will continue to assist with customers’ needs as we coordinate with city officials on the next steps for our current building and search for a new facility in Clinton.”  Customers can use the Mediacom mobile app, or call 855-633-4226.  Mediacom will maintain a drop box located in the parking lot at 112 north 2nd street.
