The deputy was able to get behind the truck and initiated a traffic stop by the intersection of highway 61/ Bellevue Cascade Road. Once the deputy made contact with the driver, the deputy could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the truck. The driver/defendant, Jarrod Koch, of Maquoketa, had slurred speech, and bloodshot watery eyes. When deputy Konrardy asked Koch if he was aware he was driving in the wrong lane of traffic. Jarrod Koch said, “ no, oh God that’s bad.” The deputy placed handcuffs on Koch and informed him he was going to the law center for further testing. Koch took a test on the datamaster and blew a .189. Koch was then charged with Operating While Intoxicated and was taken to the Jackson County Detention Center.
