Body found in the Mississippi River

A body was found in the Mississippi River near Davenport on Thursday at 1:30 pm.  The  Scott County Emergency Communications Center received a report on the LeClaire Park  riverfront.  Upon arrival, police and fire said the adult woman was found in the river.  The medical examiner investigator indicated that the body had been “in the river for an extended period of time.”  An autopsy has been scheduled with the state medical examiner to determine the identity and cause of death.  The incident remains under investigation.
