Lawsuit against Bellevue Police Department

Shortly before her death, Angela Pritchard wrote, “I think Chris is capable of anything, he told my sister he didn’t care if he went to jail he put guns all over upstairs in three different rooms.”  Angela was shot and killed by her estranged husband, Christopher Pritchard.  leading up to Angela’s death, she issued a no contact order in April a few months later Angela located a tracking device in her Jeep and two hidden cameras in her home.  Violations of Iowa’s anti-stalking and invasion of privacy laws.  Pritchard continued his threats stating “it is going to get real f— ugly.”  Angela continually notified the police and nothing was done.

Shortly after Angela’s death in October of 2022, her family filed a lawsuit against the Bellevue police department.  According to court documents filed Monday morning, a federal civil lawsuit filed by the late Angela Pritchard against the city of Bellevue and the Bellevue police department was dismissed.  Chief Judge C.J. Williams of the U.S. district court for the northern district of Iowa, said, “a complaint filed in federal court must contain a short and plain statement of the claim showing that the pleader is entitled to relief. It does not require detailed factual allegations.  nevertheless, it demands more than an unadorned, the defendant unlawfully harmed me accusation. a complaint that relies on naked assertions, devoid of further factual enhancement, labels and conclusions or a formulaic recitation of the elements of a cause of action will not do.” The lawsuit, which was filed last April, accused the Bellevue police department of multiple violations, one being the Iowa slayer act.  All the claims and charges were in the 36 page decision.
